GENDER DIFFERENCES
Sadly, we see gender differences every day in almost every aspect of our lives. Somehow this happens because of Gender Roles.
As written by Susan Ikegwu in "Gender Roles and its Effects on Today's Society", Gender Roles are "learned behaviors by a person as appropriate to their gender, determined by the prevailing cultural norms". What Susan trying to say is that we learn how people are supposed to act according to their gender without first considering if that is how we think they should act, if that is our most honest opinion.
Gender roles determine how men and women should speak, think, and interact within our society. They are adopted during childhood and normally continue into adulthood. We can see the power of gender roles at home, where people have certain presumptions about decision making, financial responsibilities, childrearing practices... Also, it is present at work, where presumptions about power, labor, and organizational structures prevail over others.
Here is a short video on gender stereotypes and gender differences:
The scientific differences between men and women are very tiny compared to the differences society has put between genders, and Gender Inequalities arise from these perceived but inexistent differences. If you find this interesting and want to read more about it please check "The Truth About Gender Differences" by Amanda Rose. Also, for a more scientific article check "Men and Women: No Big Difference" posted by the Americal Psychological Association.
Gender roles can heavily affect and dismantle marriages and relationships. It is powerful and we should put an end to it.

To finish, check out this interview conducted by myself where Laura Crespo, Sara MartÃnez, Paul Sabate, and David Crespo discuss a few questions regarding feminism and gender differences.
